An Easy and Mess-Free Activity for Toddlers Through Tweens

If you have kids that are all different ages and don’t have the energy to set up a different activity for each of them, I hear you!

Here is an easy activity that’s fun for toddlers all the way to tweens!  There is no mess involved and you can use what you already have at home!

Here’s how you do it:

What you need for this easy and mess-free activity:

  • Paper

  • Stickers

  • Painters tape

  • Crayons or pencils

  • Trays or paper plates

⁣Step One: PREP⁣

  1. Roll out some paper, or you can tape a few smaller ones together to make a big canvas for a family mural or use our favorite roll paper Secure the paper to the table or the floor with a bit of tape.

  2. For the little kids, tear small pieces of tape and stick them to the rim of the tray (see image below).  They’ll be able to grab the tape independently and won’t get frustrated waiting for you to cut and tear it for them.

  3. Cut the stickers into strips and then peel off the outer back so they are easy for small fingers to peel independently. See image below. The older kids can peel and cut independently, so leave everything intact for them.  Put out some crayons or pencils and then organize all of the prepped supplies in a way that looks inviting for your kids to create.

Step Two: PLAY⁣

Invite your children to come create with you.  You will be amazed how much fun and creativity comes from a simple roll of tape and stickers, from both your older and younger kids!  Encourage your kids to think outside the box and make their own rules to spark their creativity.

Step Three: EXTEND⁣

If your kids love this activity,  do it on repeat! This easy and mess-free activity can be easily switched up and done a few different ways.  Here are a couple of ideas:

  • Draw simple shapes on the paper and let your children fill the shapes in using patterns and designs.

  • Draw basic people and let your children design their outfits.

Follow your kids’ lead and let them decide the direction that the activity goes.

  1. Roll Paper / 2. Colorful Tape / 3. Tray / 4. Stickers
