Stowe, VT 2020

Before I dive into all the magical details about our fall getaway to Stowe, Vermont, I must say this: If you plan to travel during this pandemic, please check state guidelines before you go. Please protect communities by following the rules.

Where we stayed:

The Rabbit Hole is a luxury rental through AirBnB. This cabin was perfect for our family. There was more than enough room for the five of us to stretch out. This little house is tucked away in the woods, so if you are looking for privacy, this is it. It was so nice to let the kids play and run around without worrying about disturbing anyone else.

Where we ate and played:

Weissner Woods is right up the road from The Rabbit Hole, so we went here a few times. It is an easy hike for kids.

Stowe Bike Path is a 5.3 mile paved path that criss crosses through Stowe. My kids said this was one of their favorite parts of the trip.

Mount Mansfield was my favorite hike of the trip. We did not have enough time to go all the way, but it was beautiful!!

Marshall Hill We got dumped with snow while we were visiting Stowe, so sledding was a must!

Burlington VT Skate Park (Andy A Dog Skatepark) Ruby really wanted to check out this skatepark, so we drove down to Burlington and it was worth it! All three kids had a blast.

Shaw’s General Store A fifth generation general store in the heart of town. The staff was so welcoming and helpful.

Edelweiss Deli It does not look like much from the outside. We almost missed this spot and I’m so glad we didn’t. The most delicious sandwiches are here. They also have a small selection of groceries.

Tres Amigos has amazing Mexican takeout.

Stowe Public House we sat outside under the space heaters and had drinks and ordered all the bar snacks. The kids loved running around down by the bike path behind us. If the weather is good, you must go!

Cold Hollow Cider Mill YUM. This cider mill is awesome. Take the kids, don’t skimp on the donuts.

What we wore:

Winter One Piece Suit this was what Sloane wore all week. It was comfy and so warm. I wish I had one for me.

Base Layers are the key to keeping the kids outside all winter. We loved these ones.

Wool Socks keep feet warm and dry, not sweaty.

Mexican Serape Blanket I always travel with at least one, usually three of these. They are great for a quick picnic or a cuddle in the car. We used them in the house too. I like to snuggle up in my own blankets.

Waterproof Gloves My big kids prefer gloves over mittens, and these kept them warm and dry.

Adult Snow Pants I was grateful to have these!

Kids Ski Pants Nate and Ruby live in these from Fall through Spring. They are waterproof and warm.

Mittens Sloane loves these mittens.

My Boots I’ve had these a few seasons now and they are comfortable and warm, but not hot.

Sleds These were perfect for all five of us!

Kids Boots Durable and comfortable. Won’t leak.

Hand Warmers Something about hand warmers that kids just love! We have tried the rechargeable ones, and can’t seem to find ones that don’t break!
