Halloween Rice Krispie Treats
/Every Fall my kids beg to make these yummy treats to share with friends and gobble up themselves.
HOW TO MAKE RICE KRISPIE TREATS:
6 cups of crispy rice cereal
4 cups of mini marshmallows
4 tablespoons of butter
Melt together your butter and marshmallows in a big heavy pot over a medium flame. Once they are liquified, dump in your cereal and mix. When everything is combined, spray a large cookie sheet with non-stick spray and press the mixture down. Set it in the freezer for about twenty minutes or until it is firm to the touch. Cut into squares.
Psst… If you don’t feel like making them you can buy them already made. No one is judging you.
Note: I make these ahead of time without the kids.
Why? The decorating is the fun part. Everyone is happier when they can get started right away.
SET UP YOUR TABLE FOR DECORATING:
MELT YOUR CHOCOLATE:
We used this Wilton pot and loved it. We have done this project several times over the years and this pot made set up and clean up a total snap. We used Ghiardelli Chocolate (white) because it was on sale at our local store, but next time I would recommend using Wilton Candy Melts. The Consistency is better.
Tip: Put out a healthy snack as well to avoid tummy aches from eating too much candy.
DECORATE YOUR TREATS:
Have fun and let your kids get creative. A one eyed krispie monster? A cute ghost? Get silly and have fun. When they are finished, your kids can make the treat into a pop with the lollipop stick if they want to. It’s great to leave these decisions up to the children and give them some creative freedom. Don’t focus on a perfect outcome, just have fun with this Halloween activity.

Starting school is a huge milestone. It can bring up so many feelings for both child and parent. I have been on “all sides” of starting school. I taught preschool for many years, I have a Masters in education, and I’m a mom of three children who all approached starting school differently. I’ve been working with children and families for a very long time and one thing I know for sure is that starting school for the first time brings up a lot of feelings for everyone involved. Inside Ready Set School, I am going to walk you through all of the tips and strategies that I have used throughout the years. You don’t have to wing it. After Ready Set School, you and your child are going to feel as prepared and confident as possible for starting school.
